SBESC 2025 will take place at Instituto de Computação, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP).

Unicamp

Instituto de Computação hosts the first and consistently top-ranked Computer Science undergraduate course in Brazil, created in 1969. Today, IC offers Computer Science and Computer Engineering undergraduate programs, as well the graduate Master’s and Doctoral programs in Computer Science.

Instituto de Computação is located in UNICAMP’s main campus, in the Barão Geraldo district, Campinas, Brazil.

SBESC will take place at building IC 3, at Rua Saturnino de Brito, 573.


Directions

From airports


Campinas is served by three main airports: Campinas “Viracopos” International Airport (VCP), São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), and São Paulo Congonhas Airport (CGH).

Viracopos
Viracopos is the closest airport to UNICAMP. It receives domestic and international direct flights from the U.S. (Fort Lauderdale and Orlando) and Europe (Lisbon, Porto, and Madrid). Most flights are operated by Azul Airlines.
Bus:

Taxi: average fare to UNICAMP: BRL 120.00 - 150.00. Taxis are located just outside the terminal. Look for a banner “Taxi Comum”. Beware that unregistered drivers may approach offering their services.
Ride apps: average fare to UNICAMP: BRL 60.00 – 90.00. Beware that unregistered drivers may approach offering their services. See Getting Around Campinas - Ride Apps below.
Car: rental companies Localiza Hertz, Movida, and Unidas operate at Viracopos. The route via “Rodovia Bandeirantes” is slightly longer, but recommended as it avoids driving through Campinas City Center.

Guarulhos
Guarulhos is the largest international airport in Brazil. International attendees are likely to arrive via Guarulhos due to its extensive connectivity.
Bus:

  • Lirabus semi-direct service to Campinas Central Bus Station: BRL 53.10. Tickets can be bought in advance. Be sure to leave the bus only at the final Campinas Central stop, as this service may make stops along the way.

Transfer: CHM Transportes transfer service directly to UNICAMP: BRL 415.00 – 540.00, depending on additional services. Book in advance.
Car: rental companies Localiza Hertz, Movida, and Unidas operate at Guarulhos. Be aware that traffic may be a major factor. IMPORTANT: Driving through São Paulo city during weekdays is restricted depending on the last digit of the registration plate. Be sure to plan with the rental agency to avoid fines. Ask about the “Rodízio”.

Congonhas:
Congonhas is a central domestic airport in the city of São Paulo. Connecting flights via other Brazilian airports may arrive at Congonhas.
Bus:

  • Lirabus semi-direct service to Campinas Central Bus Station: BRL 46.45. Tickets can be bought in advance. Be sure to leave the bus only at the final Campinas Central stop, as this service may make stops along the way.
  • Azul free service to Viracopos Airport: If flying Azul and on a budget, the airline offers a free Bus connection to Viracopos airport, from where one can take the standard bus services towards UNICAMP.

From Campinas Central Bus Station


Campinas Central Bus Station receives long-distance bus services from many cities in Brazil. Also, if travelling by Bus, it may be possible to connect to Campinas Central via São Paulo “Tietê” major Bus Station.
Bus:

  • 3.31 “Term Barão Geraldo” standard service to Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal; from there, change to 3.37 “UNICAMP” or 3.29 “Cidade Judiciária” services towards UNICAMP: BRL 6.20. The standard bus platforms are at the “Metropolitano” bus terminal, outside of the barriers that separate the long-distance platforms. See Getting Around Campinas - Bus below.

Taxi: average fare to UNICAMP: BRL 70.00 - 80.00. Taxis are located just outside the station, where one can clearly see their marked cars. Beware that unregistered drivers may approach offering their services.

Getting around Campinas

Bus

UNICAMP is located in the Barão Geraldo district and serviced by the Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal, at about 3 Km from SBESC venue at Instituto de Computação. From the Bus Terminal, services depart to many locations within Campinas.
Buses in Campinas do not take cash as payment. Paper printed QR code tickets can be bought at the Bus Terminal and digital QR Code tickets can be bought using the Transurc app (iOS | Android). Brazilian citizens can acquire a “Bilhete Único” rechargeable card ticket at the Bus Terminal, which also offers discounted fares.
The main bus routes near IC are:

  • 3.37 “Term Barão Geraldo” / “UNICAMP” to/from Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal;
  • 3.29 “Term Barão Geraldo” / “Cidade Judiciaria” to/from Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal, this route departs from the Bus Terminal and goes to northeast Campinas via UNICAMP;
  • 3.30 “Corredor Central” / “UNICAMP” to/from Campinas City Center, this route departs from UNICAMP and does not go through Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal.

Taxi

The Taxi Stand in front of Barão Geraldo Bus Terminal is the closest to UNICAMP. Taxis can be called on the phone at +55 19 3289 3300. Taxis in Campinas are white and clearly marked with a blue stripe and the word “TAXI”.

Ride apps

Ride apps Uber (iOS | Android ) and 99 (iOS | Android ) operate in Campinas. The Barão Geraldo region is usually well served by drivers. Be aware that the cheapest option in the app may refer to a ride in a motorcycle or other non-passenger delivery options.

Car

Rental companies Localiza Hertz, Movida, and Unidas operate in Campinas. Navigation apps work well in the city. Within UNICAMP, street parking and most parking lots are free and unrestricted. Throughout the city, street parking is free at most locations, except in crowded areas in the city center marked as “Zona Azul”.
